Career Guidance Day was organized on 1st December 2019 at Thane with an objective to educate students on various career options & empower them with knowledge to make an informed decision for themselves, their family & friends. 76 student, 6 KP’s & 6 members of Commerce career guidance team were present.

collage 1Chef Parag Joglekar gave an overview about Hotel Management, various aspects involved therein, institutes offering courses, eligibility criteria & career prospects. He stressed that career in HM is demanding & tough, however “Hard Work combined with Smart Work “is bound to yield positive results.

Mr. Kishore Salvi gave a brief introduction about LIC, types of policies, career options as an LIC agent, eligibility criteria, commission structure & perks etc. Willingness to work hard either part time or full time will ensure regular income.

collage 2Mr. Vikram Durve, of Career Vision introduced students to different forms of tourism & their future prospects. Along with knowledge of world map, geography, time zones, terminologies etc., a command over English language is must. The industry is projected to grow exponentially in the near future & offer good career prospects.

Yashwant Pukale, VSM Palya & TISS student gave detailed presentation on courses offered, admission process & career prospects. He emphasized that competition is tough, however on completion of course, there are lucrative opportunities available within India & overseas.

collage 3Ragini Wakode from IBOP introduced various openings in government, railway & banking sector. She shared important tips to clear the exam & stressed on regular practice. She advised students was to learn from mistakes and move ahead. “When you Err, you Learn” is her mantra for success.

Mrs. Mahajan highlighted that demand for skilled manpower in beauty industry is increasing in both rural and urban areas and a 6 months course is sufficient to take up part time work.

Colonel Prasanna Joshi introduced students to life in armed forces with the help of a short video, followed by a presentation in which he elaborated on aspects that attract people to armed forces, its recruitment process, perks and benefits offered. Employment in army helps one lead a successful, satisfying & purposeful life.

collage 4(1)Mrs. Pradhan’s session aimed at improving awareness amongst students about banking & various government schemes. She gave an overview about banking industry & its importance in the economic development of a country. She stressed on inculcating the habit of saving, benefits of online banking & precautions to safeguard against frauds. She provided detailed information on education loans & introduced students to various government schemes like PPF, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Prime Ministers Jeevan Jyoti Yojana & Atal Pension Yojana.

Shubham Sakpal-Mass Media-4VSM alumni Shubham Sakpal conducted session on Mass Media, he gave an overview of the admission process and courses offered under BMMC (Bachelor in Multi Media Communication). A course in mass media offers student an opportunity to ” Earn & Learn “. Job opportunities are aplenty in Public Relations, Media Planning, News & Advertising Agencies etc.

Students were introduced to Omkar Joshi, man behind the healthy meal packets. Omkar could not communicate with words, but his enthusiasm was palpable & his message through sign language clear. Omkar is a live example of how one can overcome any obstacle in life with sheer determination & hard work. Students thanked Omkar with a loud round of applause.

The event was coordinated & organized by VSM Commerce Team & glimpses of wide range of careers on a single platform was very thought provoking and useful to the students.
