The Career counseling workshop for the 12th passed Science students (2016-17 Batch) was held on 11th June 2017 at VSM Khopat office.

Attendance: Students – 17 (out of total 21) & Mentors (Karyakarta Palak) – 10
Rationale: To impart one on one counseling to the students in presence of their mentors (Palak Karyakarta’s) and explain them the various career options which they can opt for after their 12th. The aim was to help them make an informed choice as per their academic performance and competencies.
The workshop was scheduled after the 12th & Entrance exams (MH-CET) results. As the marks were already known, the Career Guidance Team could give the options as per the individual performance and interest of the students.
In-depth information was given on the Nursing options to all the interested candidate, along with the degree/diploma options, various colleges, hostel facilities etc.
The team introduced the students to the various paramedical courses which have very good employability. These included Diploma in Medical Lab. Technology, Optometry, Anaesthesia/ICU/Dialysis/Operation Theatre/Medical Imaging technology etc. These can be done in Hospitals or some government approved private Institutes.
Regular BSc options were also explained in detail. Some of the above courses can be done after 12thor along with graduation or even after graduation.
Engineering options were discussed with the students and with emphasis on choosing the correct stream/college. The ground realities of going to non-government (Private) colleges without campus placements were explained. Information on paint technology, biomedical instrumentations & other technical courses was shared.
Some students had made up their mind to pursue pure science like Maths/ Statistics and Chemistry. The team tried to understand their reasons & accordingly explained the students the importance of choosing colleges with good faculty & facilities. Future scope of opting for pure sciences subjects were discussed.
Careers (common for all) in mass media, commerce related options, actuarial, foreign language, fire officers, security personnel, government/bank competitive exams etc were also explained. The students & their KP’s attended the sessions with interest, discussed their queries without inhibitions & the team made efforts to guide them to best of their abilities.
