For the very first time in the history of VSM a platform was provided for a trio-partite interaction between the students, parents and VSM Volunteers of Shahapur & Murbad on Sunday, Feb. 4 2018 at Shahapur.
The objective behind the exercise was to increase community involvement with VSM, making the parents aware of all the activities that VSM conducts for its students and how parents can play a supporting role in fulfilling dreams of the children.
The meeting began with Radha Jagushte explaining the purpose of the meeting followed by a narration of the journey of VSM, Shahapur by Shahapur incharge Mr. Athavale, Thereafter, our VSM alumni Bharat gave a power point presentation of various events and activities of VSM for the benefit of parents who attended the program for the first time.
Shri Kantilal Bhalke expressed his gratitude towards VSM for supporting all his three children. He accorded credit to the constant dialogue between him, his daughters and the mentor and the timely interventions and help in choosing a right career path for them.
Mrs. Swati Agate discussed how the parents can be a part of their ward’s journey with VSM. One of the important outcomes of this day interactions was to understand the importance of direct communication between the parents and the mentor.
Mr. Anil Basarkod and Mrs. Jaya Soman explained how the relationship between parents and mentors can be beautifully nurtured.
Mrs. Firke guided parents about ways to become self-reliant and Mrs. Alka Deore from Bank of Maharashtra explained about various free Skill development programs conducted by the Bank under the auspices of government Schemes. Number of parents showed lot of interest in this session.
The highlight of the day was the bonding generated in the one-on-one session between the parents and the volunteers in the presence of the students.
Mrs. Geeta Shah summed up the session in her characteristic way by making everyone think about the learning’s and insights from the various sessions. Mrs. Ranjana Kulkarni, closed the session by thanking the parents, students and volunteers for making it a grand success!!!
