‘Wings of Science’ workshop was held on 1st November, 2020 at 4pm, by VSM students of Science stream on Google meet.
Total number of participants were 68, which included Students, Mentors, Volunteers & Managing Committee Members.
Opening remarks were delivered by Science Team Lead, Dr. Archana Damle. She welcomed all & briefed about the Science group which comprises of various streams like Agriculture, Paint technology, Geology, Biotechnology, Statistics, Maths, Pharmacy and pure sciences. She also touched upon the course specific events conducted so far in this academic year & the thought process behind conducting “Wings of Science”.
Ms. Rucha Kulkarni, team member from Singapore, explained in detail about the workshop and how students have worked in teams for this to find new inventions in their field. One leader from each team presented the invention with beautiful slides and videos. The enthusiasm & efforts of the students are worth appreciating.
Science students, Darshana Kankoshe and Sunny Navrat compered the entire event very nicely and kept it lively for audience. First Session was innovative inventions in main streams of Science. Sunny Navrat had briefed about the invention in Geology “delta18-O method” and how it is useful for finding the atmospheric conditions in historical era in sea. Then Omkar Padwal presented interesting ‘Electric Paint’ and its application in electronic circuits and other gazettes. Darshana Kankoshe then presented ‘3D Bioprinting’ a game changer invention in medical science. Her slides were self-explanatory to show various application of this invention.
In this digital era, our privacy is very important. Raj Khandagale presented Cyber Security and how statistics is used to maintain the privacy at various levels. Final presentation was by Nityanand Deshmukh, regarding indoor air purifying plants. It was very interesting and it is need of time to create positive environment at home.
After this very interesting Invention Session, next was Science Games. All the games were played between two teams – Universe (KP/mentor team), Stars (Students team). Both the teams were ready and eager to play scientific games. First Game was “Cross Word Puzzle”. Each team had given 30 seconds and the stopwatch on screen was showing time was increasing their excitement. Second game was “Quiz-choose Correct answer”. This was also an interesting game.
